Black Walnut Pie

This recipe is from BerksWeb's Authenic Berks County Recipes.

  • 1 c. black walnuts, chopped
  • 4 eggs
  • 1-1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1-1/4 c. water
  • 1-1/2 c. dark corn syrup
  • Two unbaked pie shells

Preheat oven to 450°F.

Sprinkle walnuts over the pie dough. Beat eggs well, then gradually add sugar.

Fold in the flour, corn syrup and water with sugar mixture. Pour over walnuts in the pie crusts.

Bake for 3 minutes at 450°F, then reduce temperature to 350°F and continue baking for 30-40 minutes.
